Scholarship Weekend brings together our best and brightest admitted students. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, personal is powerful, and we believe in getting to know each candidate individually. The weekend will include seminars, interviews, presentations, or auditions which, in combination with your academic record of achievement, will help the scholarship committee make nominations for each award.
We anticipate participation from 300+ students from more than 20 states, so this is a great time for you to connect with potential college classmates! Scholarship Weekend will also feature an array of informative panels and discussions offered for parents and guardians so they can participate fully in the college decision-making process.
Scholarship Weekend events will take place on-campus and you must be present to participate.
In qualifying for Scholarship Weekend, you have already earned a renewable,Ìýannual merit awardÌýofÌýat least $15,000! Participation in Scholarship Weekend can only serve to increase your total award.
Nomination process
Students must be nominated by the Office of Admission to compete in Scholarship Weekend. Nominations are determined by a holistic review of a student’s application, including their academic credentials, co-curricular activities, leadership experience, personal essay, and recommendations. Students are notified of the competitions for which they have been nominated in their admission Petrel Package and by email. The final deadline to RSVP for each competition is two weeks before the event date.
Parent and guest programming
Attendance at Scholarship Weekend is optional but encouraged for parents and guests! There will be a full track of “Parent and Guest Programming,†complete with information about financial aid and internships, meetings with faculty and administrators, and time for campus tours. There will be unique parent programming on Friday and Saturday.
No commitment necessary
Scholarship Weekend is the perfect opportunity to decide if ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is the best fit for you! You do not have to commit to attending the institution in order to attend Scholarship Weekend.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø offers full-tuition scholarships in several categories. Students are welcome, but not required, to compete in all competitions for which they have been nominated. Read an overview of our scholarships below for complete information.
Each scholarship competition will consist of a series of optional and mandatory events that will take place between approximately 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. In order to be eligible to win, you must be physically present for the mandatory portions of each competition in which you participate. A full schedule will be sent out in advance of the event.

The OU Theatre Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition award that recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to performing and understanding theatre. Candidates must be invited to and participate in the OU Theatre competition at Scholarship Weekend. Through their application materials, nominees will have indicated promise in the field of theatre and performance as well as the critical ability to tie these pursuits to disciplines such as literature and history. In addition to the full-tuition award, OU Theatre Scholars have an opportunity to intern with a professional theatre company in Atlanta, as well as an invitation to enroll in an honors course during the first semester and eligibility for a research stipend for a senior Honors thesis. Continued dedication to theatre at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is expected, including a major or double-major in theatre. Up to two OU Theatre scholarships are awarded annually.
The Hammack Business Scholarship competition is named for the Q. William “Bill†Hammack, Jr. School of Business at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. The Hammack Business Scholarship recognizes students’ outstanding record of academic achievement, pursuit of business-related opportunities, and desire to continue their study in the field of business at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. OneÌýfull-tuitionÌýscholarship will be awarded following the Hammack competition at Scholarship Weekend.
The Hammack Scholar will receive:
- A four-yearÌýfull-tuition scholarship, valued at over $165,000.
- A stipend toward aÌýstudy-abroadÌýcourse or aÌýprofessional internshipÌýwith one of Atlanta’s top companies.
- An invitation to enroll in anÌýHonors courseÌýduring your first semester at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
- A personalÌýcollege advisorÌýto assist with academic planning, co-curricular learning, and social support.
The Hammack Scholar will be required to accept or decline the award by May 1; all full-tuition scholars will be required to live on-campus in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø housing all four years.ÌýContinued dedication to the field is expected, including a major in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Accounting, or Human Resource Management.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø The Competition
The Hammack Business Scholarship Competition seeks to identify students who are emerging leaders, bold thinkers, and dynamic community members. Students will participate in several activities and events throughout the competition, and they may also be assessed on their meaningful interactions with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø business faculty and current students. A full schedule of events will be released well in advance of the competition. Previous competitions have included components such as the following:
Presentation:
Each student is asked to search out an article from a reputable news source pertaining to a relevant business issue of interest to him/her. Students will be expected to give a brief presentation (2-3 minutes) on the content of the article and expand on its connections to business decision-making.
Simulation:
Working in teams of four students with an OU business student-mentor, the Computer Simulation Competition allows assessment of a student’s interpersonal and leadership skills as well as the ability to grasp and apply his/her understanding of the basic foundations of business.
Writing Assessment:
Students’ written communication and analytical skills will be assessed using a post-computer simulation writing assignment. This assignment will be based on a prompt given after the simulation and due one week after scholarship weekend.

How To Qualify
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø considers academic achievement and co-curricular involvement (such as Future Business Leaders of America, Distributive Education Clubs of America, Career, Technical and Agricultural Education, 3DE, etc.) in nominations for the Hammack Business Scholarship competition. Student must applyÌýEarly ActionÌý²ú²âÌýDecember 1 in order to be considered. We encourage students to include information about their involvement and/or interest in Business in their application. The J. Fred and Catherine B. Agel Leadership Scholarship, a four-year full-tuition scholarship, will be awarded annually to an incoming freshman during ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s annual scholarship weekend.
Each Agel Leadership Scholar will receive:
- A four-yearÌýfull-tuition scholarship, valued at over $165,000.
- An invitation to enroll in anÌýHonors courseÌýduring your first semester at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
- A personalÌýcollege advisorÌýto assist with academic planning, co-curricular learning, and social support.
There is no separate competition for the Agel Leadership Scholarship. Instead, winners are identified through a combination of their applications and their participation in other Scholarship Weekend activities.
How To Qualify
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø considers academic achievement and co-curricular involvement in nominations for the Agel Leadership Scholarship. Students must apply Early Action by December 1 in order to be considered. Apply through the Common App or atÌý.
