As part of our involvement with Belong: An Inclusive Learning Community, all faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to 泭硃紳餃 attend Feeling Welcome: Connecting Through Conversations,”泭棗紳 November 6, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 PM EST.

This session will focus on how educators can facilitate classroom conversations that incorporate diverse perspectives, guide students in respectful disagreement, and help students summarize discussions to identify key points and achieve closure. Presented by Dr. Teresa Nance, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Villanova University, this webinar will provide actionable strategies to enhance classroom dialogue and ensure all students feel heard and valued.

The Office of DEI will be hosting a live screening of the webinar and post-webinar discussion on November 6th from 2-3:30pm. Location TBD. Refreshments will be served. 泭

I encourage you to take advantage of this professional development opportunity particularly as you consider ways to engage students in conversations post-election day.

Its a great time to innovate in the classroom. 窪蹋勛圖厙, through a 2023 Strategic Initiative Grant, is providing funding and support for instructors interested in applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices to the classroom through the CAST UDL Credential.

UDL is a framework to think about how different tools and resources can be leveraged to reduce barriers and support all learners to engage in challenging ways of thinking.泭

Here are two quick videos about 泭硃紳餃 .

CAST, a nonprofit education organization leading the UDL framework development, 泭offers three 泭 UDL Mindset, UDL Analysis, and UDL Application. I encourage you all to retain Credential 1 UDL Mindset.
