Petrel Pride soars on ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day 2026

Despite a mid-week burst of rain that, for a second consecutive year, cancelled the annual Petrels of Fire footrace around the quad, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day spirit was not dampened. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Day 2026 brought the campus community together for a celebration filled with inspiration, connection, and plenty of school spirit.

In fact, Petrels across the globe showed their Petrel Pride in a big way during , which took place as the community celebrated on campus.

The celebration began with a special presentation from Joselyn Butler Baker ’91, president of the Grady Health Foundation and an ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Trustee. Speaking to an engaged audience of students, faculty and staff, Baker reflected on how her ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø education helped shape her remarkable career working with state leaders, MARTA and steering major philanthropic efforts at Grady.

“The fact is, the education and experience you are receiving here will allow you to stand apart,” she stated.

“Your ability to critically think and problem solve, the fact that you can communicate effectively, the leadership skills you’ve developed through sports or by participating in campus organizations, the intellectual curiosity you’ve developed by being guided by your professors and surrounded by your fellow students. It all matters – and it will all contribute to your success,” Baker said.
