ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Theatre will present a production of “Noises Off,” Michael Frayn’s fast-paced farce about a theatrical production unraveling onstage and backstage, Apr. 10–19 at the Conant Performing Arts Center.
The show is directed by Lee Knippenberg ’82, who retired from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø last year after 30 years of service. Knippenberg led the theatre program for several years and was instrumental in creating the theatre major. Staging “Noises Off” serves as a fitting tribute to her lasting impact on the program and her long-standing desire to return to the play.
Known for its intricate stage business and physical comedy, “Noises Off” demands precise timing and carefully choreographed movement to keep the story intact.
Conant Technical Director and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø alumnus Karl Dickey ’17 has reimagined the play’s traditional, English countryside setting with a mid-century modern, colorful design that brings new energy to the 1982 comedy.
The production also features an ambitious rotating set that shifts between acts, revealing both the interior of the house and the behind-the-scenes chaos that drives the comedy.
Performances will take place April 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m., with a matinee performance on April 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are ; admittance is free for current ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students, faculty and staff with a Petrel Pass.
