The welcomed a special guest this week as Danielle Donehew, executive director of the , addressed the team in the locker room before their home game.
Donehew serves as executive director of the WBCA, overseeing operations, marketing, programs, external affairs, and the organization’s annual budget. She also represents the WBCA on the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee. A past president of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors, Donehew serves on the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Trustees and is an International Women’s Forum Foundation Fellow.

Previously, Donehew held senior leadership roles in collegiate athletics and helped launch the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream as executive vice president, guiding the franchise to top-five league attendance and a playoff appearance in its second season. An Atlanta native, she attended Georgia Tech, where she played basketball, becoming a school Hall of Famer and record holder.
She spoke briefly to the ϳԹ team, telling them about what she does with the WBCA and the way this work is advancing the field.
“I make the sport my business,” Donehew shared with the team. “Every decision being made is hopefully for your best interest.”
Donehew shared that women’s basketball is her calling and one she is proud to serve. She closed with words of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of confidence and readiness.
“When it’s your turn, have the confidence that you are ready,” she said. “I’m betting on all of you. I hope you use your head, your heart, and both of your feet to jump in.”
